Upper or lower case?
Ever wondered why characters are called "upper case" and "lower case"? Well it all stems from the olden days of metal type - back when all printing was made up by hand from individual letters made out cast metal. Imagine all the different letters for your typeface like a massive pile of lego blocks. They need organising right? Well, they stored them in boxes (or "cases") with individual compartments for each letter, easy enough to find individual letters or punctuation, but what about capitals? Well they put those in a seperate case. So you have two cases - one for capital letters and one for small letters. Guess where the capital letter case was? On the top - the "upper" - case. It all makes perfect sense now!
